How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
CryoSolar® empowers underrepresented groups in the climate movement, including women, youth, and climate-vulnerable communities, by addressing their specific needs and promoting inclusivity. It supports coastal fishing communities, often most affected by climate change, by providing renewable energy-powered cold storage solutions that enhance food security and reduce post-capture losses. The project economically empowers women, who play key roles in fish processing and marketing, by improving product quality and increasing income stability. For youth, CryoSolar® creates jobs in installation, maintenance, and management, paired with training in renewable energy and refrigeration technologies, equipping them with valuable skills for future employment. By decentralizing energy access, CryoSolar® reduces reliance on costly, unreliable grid-based systems, ensuring equitable access to sustainable infrastructure in remote, low-income areas. Its inclusive training programs prioritize women and youth, fostering leadership and technical expertise. CryoSolar®’s participatory approach respects local traditions and integrates solutions tailored to community needs. Its diversification into healthcare and agriculture extends its benefits, improving resilience across sectors. Through renewable energy, skill development, and economic opportunities, CryoSolar® advances social equity, environmental justice, and community resilience, ensuring that vulnerable groups are active participants and beneficiaries in the transition to a sustainable future.
