How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Community gardens such as Shelldale Farm Park, Black Creek Community farm and the Food From Home gardens are examples Everdale's work in underrepresented communities. These gardens are part of the Good Food Project and located in neighbourhoods with underrepresented groups in the climate movement, including women, youth, newcomers and marginalized communities. By fostering an inclusive environment and local leadership, these initiatives actively engage diverse participants in sustainable farming/community gardening and food security efforts, ensuring that all voices are heard. Additionally, through the The Good Food Project, Everdale collaborates with local food banks and organizations that serve low-income households and vulnerable populations. Through community-based food production, participants, including women and youth, gain hands-on experience in agriculture, food preparation, and nutrition education. This not only enhances their skills but also builds confidence and fosters leadership. All community garden programming is designed to be accessible and welcoming, educational workshops and events celebrate diversity and include culturally relevant food practices, encouraging cross cultural participation from multiple voices and communities.
