How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project empowers smallholder farmers, many of whom are from underserved rural communities and climate-vulnerable regions in East Africa. By providing affordable solar-powered milking machines, we are not only addressing the climate crisis but also improving the economic and social livelihoods of farmers who are often marginalized in traditional agricultural systems. Our focus on gender equality ensures that women farmers, who make up a significant portion of smallholder agriculture, have equal access to our technology, training, and financial support. In our organization, gender diversity and youth involvement are central to our operations. We have women in leadership roles like COO Suzana Sawaki, and our team includes youth who bring fresh perspectives to tackling climate change. We are committed to inclusive hiring practices, ensuring that underrepresented groups in the climate space, especially women and youth, have opportunities to contribute to the project's growth and decision-making. We engage local communities in training programs, helping them develop skills in solar technology and sustainable farming practices. This empowers them to become leaders in climate resilience within their regions, enhancing local capacity for long-term impact. Through these efforts, aim to provide pathways for marginalized groups to become key players in the fight against climate change.
