Ecorich Solutions empowers underrepresented groups in the climate movement, including women, youth, and climate-vulnerable communities, by integrating equity and inclusion into its operations and project design.
1. Women Empowerment: Ecorich prioritizes hiring women in community outreach, waste collection, and training roles. Women are also actively involved in decision-making processes for waste management projects, ensuring their perspectives shape solutions. Out of the 300 young people who work closely with Ecorich, 180 are women and 120 are men.
2. Youth Inclusion: Recognizing the potential of youth as climate leaders, Ecorich engages them as technicians, field workers, and environmental educators. The Wastebot project offers skills training and employment opportunities in green industries, equipping youth with knowledge and resources to drive sustainable change in their communities.
3. Climate-Vulnerable Communities: Ecorich works closely with communities in informal settlements like Kibera slums, which are disproportionately affected by climate change and poor waste management. By establishing localized recycling centers and providing affordable organic fertilizer, the project addresses systemic inequities while improving livelihoods.
4. Representation at Ecorich: Our leadership reflects its commitment to inclusion, with women and youth. Our founder is a woman, with all management team staff comprising of the youth less than 35 years of age.
