How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
We are currently working with with workforce development partners, such as ChargerHelp!, to ensure a diverse pipeline of talent from underrepresented backgrounds through our California Energy Commission grant focused on manufacturing ramp-up. We are also developing training programs with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 58 in Detroit to cultivate a new generation of technicians on our unique, proprietary storage-integrated charging technology which we believe will become durable skills and experiences for the coming decade. Unions such as IBEW Local 58 are at the vanguard of advancing inclusive economic opportunities for frontline communities. Additionally, frontline communities (especially those in rural environments, such as tribal communities) are electrifying at an unprecedented rate, but their electrical grids face reliability and resiliency challenges as electrification stresses the grid while suffering from increasingly extreme weather events brought on by climate change. Our solution makes it easier for them to reduce their emissions and also protect them from the disproportionate impacts of climate change inflicted upon their communities.
