How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
In addition to reducing carbon emissions, community solar projects are capable of producing clean electricity at 30-60% of the cost of petrol or diesel powered generators. They are also able to power applications not supported by home solar systems, going beyond subsituting kerosene lamps with electric lamps for lighting. We are targeting the community solar projects that are the hardest to fund in emerging Africa, bringing affordable clean electricity to remote places, as well as providing affordable electricity to commercial and small scale industrial applications, as well as the powering of light electric vehicles.
