How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project directly addresses the underrepresentation of marginalized groups in the waste management and recycling sectors, which are often informal and exploitative, especially for women and children. By formalizing and professionalizing the sector, we provide a safer and more dignified work environment. Our focus is on empowering women and youth in local communities, offering them meaningful employment and training opportunities in the green energy and waste management industries—sectors traditionally male-dominated in Egypt. We aim to provide sustainable livelihoods for women, who are often vulnerable to exploitation in the informal waste sector, and offer educational and employment opportunities for youth, helping them develop new skills. In addition, E-Trash is committed to fostering an inclusive work environment where women have equal opportunities and are empowered, just as men are in society. we raise awareness about the importance of waste recycling and alternative energy solutions, helping these communities realize the potential of sustainable solutions and improving their quality of life. By creating economic opportunities for underrepresented groups and integrating them into the green economy, we ensure that the benefits of environmental sustainability are accessible to all, promoting both social equity and environmental responsibility.
