How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project empowers underrepresented groups, particularly women, youth, and climate-vulnerable communities, by actively involving them in all stages of the initiative. In Tanzania, we engaged 23 youth and 25 women during the past two seasons, representing around 20% of our participants. These groups are central to our efforts, with women and youth being trained in sustainable farming practices, climate-smart agriculture, and leadership roles in the project. We ensure these groups are not just participants but also key decision-makers. Women and youth receive targeted training and gain leadership experience, managing field activities and disseminating knowledge within their communities. We focus on building their capacity in agriculture, including training on improved seed varieties and crop management, which enhances their economic opportunities and resilience to climate change. Our partnerships with local organizations and agriculture bureaus help create an inclusive environment where women and youth feel safe and encouraged to participate. These efforts support gender equality, promote social inclusion, and enable marginalized groups to take ownership of their futures. By prioritizing their involvement, our project fosters long-term climate resilience while also strengthening the community’s overall capacity to adapt to the challenges posed by climate change.
