Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project empowers underrepresented groups, particularly women and marginalized communities in Burundi, by directly addressing the intersection of climate change, sanitation, and gender inequality. FEPAD (Femmes Engagées à Consolider la Paix et l'Assainissement pour le Développement durable) works to empower women by providing access to sustainable sanitation solutions and promoting gender equality. Women, especially in rural and vulnerable areas, often face disproportionate challenges related to climate vulnerability, inadequate sanitation, and gender-based violence. By focusing on improving sanitation infrastructure and promoting women’s leadership in environmental and community health projects, we create a platform for their active participation in climate action. Women and youth are trained and engaged in climate-resilient practices, gaining the knowledge and skills to lead climate-related solutions, thus addressing both gender inequality and climate impacts. FEPAD’s approach is built on integrity, solidarity, commitment, and professionalism, ensuring that marginalized groups are included in decision-making processes and policy advocacy. We are committed to giving a voice to these communities, ensuring they are central to the solutions for sustainable development and climate resilience.
