How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, but is also a major contributor to smog - which results in nearly 1M premature deaths every year and 80 million tonnes of crop failure. Reducing methane remediates both effects. The methane sources are typically in rural communities (livestock manure ponds, shut down coal mines, etc). Our project allows them to earn money for mitigating the methane and for us to provide rural jobs for the installer and maintainers of the projects. Lastly, for our beachhead market of manure ponds - there are multiple co-benefits in addition to the methane destructions. By covering the manure ponds with an impermeable cover (to trap the gas), we also: 1. Reduce the ammonia emissions from the pond (which causes bad human health effects) - at the same time, that ammonia stays in the manure, making it a better fertilizer, and reducing up to 10K in fertilizer costs for the farmer. 2. Eliminate chance of manure overflow into local riverways 3. Eliminates bad smells 4. Keeps the fresh rain water on top of the cover, and the potential to pump into a fresh water pond.

Mission Statement:
Stabilize methane accumulation in the atmosphere through finding, measuring and tackling the most concentrated methane emissions, regardless of origin (natural or anthropogenic) and with co-benefits to the land owner and the local communities.
