How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project empowers women-led households, which make up over 60% of the target community, by reducing energy costs and improving living conditions. These savings free up resources for other essential needs, fostering financial resilience in climate-vulnerable communities. We also provide training programs for local workers, prioritizing opportunities for women to become certified insulation installers, thereby addressing gender disparities in the construction and energy sectors. Representation within our organization reflects this commitment. Women lead over 70% of our research and project teams, ensuring a gender perspective informs decision-making and implementation. Additionally, we actively engage community members, including youth, in the design and monitoring phases, fostering local ownership and creating future climate advocates. Our inclusive approach recognizes the intersection of social and climate challenges. By directly involving underrepresented groups in training, employment, and decision-making, we ensure that they not only benefit from the project but also become key contributors to its success. This strategy builds capacity within the community and strengthens its resilience against climate impacts, promoting equity and sustainability in the climate movement.
