Project Summary / Description:
The Raddis Regenerative Food & Fibre Landscapes initiative, including the Raddis Cotton and Raddis Food sub-projects, supports indigenous communities in the Eastern Ghats of India. The project helps farmers transition from chemical farming to low-cost, climate-smart regenerative practices, integrating animal husbandry, soil enrichment, crop diversification, and natural pest management. The initiative strengthens local economies by establishing regenerative food value chains, with processing units that enhance product value. Farmers access premium international markets through regenerative agriculture certification, ensuring assured buyers and higher prices. Additionally, the project promotes local entrepreneurship, driving sustainable economic growth and resilience within the community.
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
GVK Society is committed to empowering Indigenous women in tribal villages. We prioritize enrolling women and fostering women-led self-help groups (SHGs), providing targeted capacity-building programs, such as training in regenerative farming practices, natural pest management, preparation of natural concoctions, clean picking, gender sensitization, and financial literacy to promote economic independence. We also support Raddis farmers in forming Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) to enhance collective storage, certification, and market negotiation. Our team is diverse and includes youth. As a women-led organization, women hold key roles, including CEO and Heads of Partnerships and Marketing. We place women at the center of the social change process we drive.
