How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
"Green-hearted Moms" are our major supporters so far. They bring in their kids, and their participation will attract older youth who want to do something important for the Planet. Our book extols the virtues and history of indigenous people world-wide. 1/4 of the book is about less affluent urban families, 1/4 is about suburban families, 1/4 is about rural families and the final 1/4 is about indigenous wisdom. We include pictures of disabled kids throughout. Many of the "green actions" recommended in the book are actually easier for a less affluent family to accomplish because they don't have a big yard to convert from grass to native wild flowers, or they don't have a gas-burning car to get rid of since they use public transportation. In our opening pages we celebrate a less affluent urban boy, Bobby, who is using far less energy thatn any of his more affluent school-mates. Our organization will empower whoever in the school steps forward to become the "First Green Actioneers." Urban families will have an advantage because their "carbon footprints" are generally less than their suburban counterparts.
