Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

The ultra cool aspect of GreenCloud is that we will use part of our revenue to pay people for providing us with compute power. Our initial development work shows that GreenCloud can run on a raspberry pi nano. A computer about the size of a cigar! We theorised that we could construct a small device that could use a solar panel for energy and a sim card for connectivity and perform computational tasks that could be paid for. The owner simply has to keep it charged up.

We foresee communities in underserved areas being able to become part of GreenCloud by ensuring that compute power can be supplied using renewable sources to achieve a passive income that removes barriers to accessing internet enabled devices. We are aware from conversations with telecoms majors that the cost of maintaining a phone contract is a barrier to accessing the internet for over 1 billion people. We aim to remove this barrier.
