Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Currently, formal waste collection services in Kenya seem to be the preserve of affluent neighbourhoods. It is almost acceptable to find waste strewn irresponsibly in informal settlements, while major landfills are situated close to these poor neighbourhoods.

Our approach is to train & hire especially these disenfranchised citizens, mostly jobless youth & women, in our business model of responsible waste management. With their buy-in and upon seeing the benefits of this approach to more affluent neighbourhoods that they work in, they'd replicate segregation & proper waste disposal/ recycling even within their own neighbourhoods.

Current gender balance is 50/50.

- 40% of all waste is organic - mostly food. We intend to establish food banks with supermarkets & restaurants to segregate edible food that they retire from their shelves, for distribution to the less fortunate. We currently sell segregated organic waste to pig farmers & organic fertilizer processors.
