Primary Project Category:
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Helix Carbon is committed to fostering diversity and inclusion both within our organization and in the broader climate movement. We prioritize creating opportunities for underrepresented groups by building a team that reflects the diversity of the communities most impacted by climate change. Our co-founding team already reflects this commitment. While we have not begun hiring yet, we are committed to hiring talent from historically underrepresented groups in the fields of engineering, science, and business. Additionally, we focus on empowering communities that are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, such as low-income and industrial areas. By offering a viable solution for decarbonizing the steel industry, a major source of pollution, we aim to benefit communities directly affected by industrial emissions. We are also planning to work with organizations that focus on supporting women, youth, and minority groups in STEM fields. By creating pathways for these individuals to engage in cutting-edge climate technology, we contribute to the diversification of the climate workforce and empower underrepresented communities to be at the forefront of the transition to a sustainable economy.
