Primary Project Category:
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Marginalized groups including women, climate vulnerable communities and persons with disability have been integral part from project design through implementation. The restoration project places inclusivity and diversity at its core, actively engaging these groups and ensuring equitable participation and shared benefits. These groups are empowered through: Training and capacity building: Our agroforestry and afforestation project actively empowers these groups through training which empowers them to take active roles in farm activities. Women are actively involved in site activities including nursery management, planting and site management activities. The training programs enhance their skills and knowledge in sustainable and safety farming practices. Leadership and decision-making opportunities: within these communities we engage where women are often excluded from economic and environmental decision-making, we empower women to take up key roles in management and operational level. Livelihoods diversification activities: These groups especially women and youth were trained in small scale trading such as beekeeping, soap making to help men generate additional income. Our organization is structured to reflect the communities we serve. We have a diverse team, including members from marginalized groups, and our advisory board includes leaders from the local communities most affected by deforestation and climate change
