How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Káapeh México directly empowers underrepresented groups, including women, Indigenous communities, and youth, by embedding equity and inclusivity into every aspect of its work. Our workshops prioritize the participation of women and Indigenous farmers, who often face systemic barriers in the agricultural sector. At least 30% of workshop participants are women, with tailored training to enhance their leadership skills, financial literacy, and access to sustainable farming techniques. These efforts promote gender equity, reduce economic vulnerability, and elevate women’s roles in community decision-making. Additionally, our initiatives are co-designed with Indigenous communities, respecting their ancestral knowledge and traditions. For example, our soil monitoring kits are available in Spanish and Tsotsil, ensuring accessibility and cultural relevance. Indigenous leaders, like Moises Mazariegos, play pivotal roles in connecting the organization with local communities, fostering trust, and ensuring their voices are integral to project design and implementation. Internally, Káapeh México’s leadership team reflects its commitment to diversity, with strong representation from women, Indigenous advocates, and young professionals. This structure ensures that decision-making processes are informed by the lived experiences of underrepresented groups.
