How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
SoilScan AI exists for those often overlooked in the fight against climate change—smallholder farmers, predominantly women, who comprise over 80% of Africa's agricultural workforce and grow 80% of the continent’s food supply. Despite contributing the least to global emissions, they suffer the most from degraded soils, vanishing yields, and the growing threats of climate change. They are the silent heroes of the climate movement, and our project places them at the center of the solution. Through tailored BioChar fertilizers and AI-powered soil diagnostics, we empower these farmers to reclaim their land, improve crop yields by up to 30%, and sequester over 1.2 million metric tons of CO₂ annually, transforming their fields into weapons against global warming. Women, who perform nearly 90% of agricultural labor in some regions, are the first to feel the hope our project brings—hope that their children will not inherit the hunger and despair they have endured. Our leadership reflects the diversity of those we serve, with agronomists, engineers, and climate experts, many from these same vulnerable communities, ensuring that their needs drive our mission. This is not just a project—it’s a lifeline for the most vulnerable.
