NXT Grid promotes Gender Equality, No Poverty, and Economic Growth. NXT Grid’s training and support of local entrepreneurs will enable them to become successful mini-grid developers. The installation and subsequent operation and maintenance of the installed mini-grids will create just over 100 FTE positions. Also, the consequential growth in commercial and industrial opportunities is estimated to create 5 extra jobs per 100 mini-grid connections. In NXT Grid’s forecast of 18,500 connections, this would translate into 925 extra jobs created. Women are in the majority among Nigeria’s poor and are most affected by energy poverty. Training women entrepreneurs as mini-grid developers presents an opportunity for NXT Grid to empower women, become NXT Grid ambassadors whilst at the same time bring profitability for NXT Grid developers. NXT Grid also incentivizes training to female staff and business owners
