Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Women, youth, and children from the local community are central to our operations within our deployment region. Through our project, we have facilitated 10 open forums to educate the residents about our initiative while addressing their concerns, with insights guiding the development of our community benefits plan. 

 

So far, the project has generated >60 high-quality jobs, with 99% of the workforce comprising local youth and women making up 35% of this labor force. We aim to increase this to >100 green jobs for Kenyan youth by Q4 2025.  

 

We have also kickstarted a pilot apprenticeship program, purposefully selecting women (one selected so far) from the local community who are already underrepresented in the STEM field.. We also recognize the challenges faced by women and girls in our deployment region, focusing on period poverty. Our 'Breaking Barriers' program addresses this by offering menstrual hygiene education and reusable supplies. So far, we have impacted >200 women and girls, ensuring that schoolgoing girls attend school throughout the year. 

Another group we are targeting is the school going children within our deployment region. We have empowered them through scholarships (11 so far), sponsoring a football tournament, and educating them on climate change.
