Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Youth leaders in our fellowship program play an active role in shaping the direction of Our Climate’s work. They help identify the climate policies that matter most to them and their communities, and they lead campaigns advocating for these issues. Many of our alumni continue to influence our programs by serving on our Board of Directors, staff, or various committees. In 2024, a major milestone was the launch of our National Environmental Justice Fellowship, which was directly inspired by the voices and input of our youth leaders. This new program allows youth aged 16-30 from outside our core states to engage with environmental justice issues and provides national leadership opportunities. We are led by, serve, and are accountable to young adults on the frontlines of the climate crisis. Most of our board and staff members are under 35, and half are aged 25 and under. Additionally, our staff reflects the communities we serve by consisting of representation from those who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ, Disabled, and Women and both the Executive Director and Board President are Black Women.
