How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
retrofitMAINE was designed to inherently address the most climate-vulnerable populations in Maine, with a strong focus on addressing communities identified as Justice40 climate-vulnerable (Lewiston, ME) and communities with significant wealth gaps (Freeport, ME). By providing personalized, trustworthy support to individual residents, our team will ensure that participant residents are receiving maximum incentives, are receiving high-quality services from their contractors, and are comfortable in their homes after the retrofit. Our coalition of community-based organizations from Lewiston and Freeport ensure residents have strong representation within the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes. We are working directly with organizations that understand our residents’ socioeconomic positions, their experiences with housing and technology adoption, and their day-to-day needs.
