Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Our mangrove afforestation and reforestation project empowers underrepresented groups, particularly women and climate-vulnerable communities, by providing equitable employment opportunities. In the project’s early stages, local community members, especially women, are employed for activities such as growing and planting seedlings, with daily stipends offered. This creates vital income opportunities, particularly for women who often face limited access to employment.

In addition, regular patrolling of the planted mangroves provides ongoing income for local communities for the next 40 years, supporting long-term economic resilience. This helps alleviate poverty and contributes to gender equality by ensuring both men and women have access to income-generating activities, in line with SDG Goal 5: Gender Equality.

Our organization promotes gender equality by hiring women and men equally for various roles and providing women with additional training and leadership opportunities. This approach ensures that marginalized groups are not only represented but also empowered in the climate movement.

By focusing on local, equitable employment and sustainable income, our project strengthens both environmental and social resilience, providing underrepresented communities with the tools to actively contribute to climate solutions while improving their livelihoods.
