How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Protone Energies is deeply committed to empowering underrepresented and climate-vulnerable communities, including women, youth, refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and people with disabilities. Our project directly addresses the energy access gap affecting these groups by providing affordable, rejuvenated solar batteries, enabling them to access reliable and sustainable energy for essential services like healthcare, education, and small businesses. Within our organization, we prioritize gender equality and inclusive employment. Our leadership team includes women in key decision-making roles, such as the Head of Operations and Design, ensuring female representation in the traditionally male-dominated energy and engineering sectors. We also actively recruit and train youth and women in technical skills related to battery rejuvenation and solar energy systems, creating pathways for long-term employment and economic empowerment. Furthermore, our planned regional expansion focuses on reaching marginalized communities in rural areas and refugee settlements, providing not only sustainable energy solutions but also training and job opportunities tailored for vulnerable groups. By engaging these communities in both the deployment and maintenance of our solutions, we foster local ownership and empowerment, amplifying their voices in the climate movement. This inclusive model ensures that those most affected by climate change are integral to driving sustainable solutions.
