How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Reciprocal empowers underrepresented groups in the climate movement by prioritizing inclusion in our venture-building model and leadership. Ventures we support such as Coral Bioworks and Fenix, operate in rural and climate-vulnerable communities in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), directly engaging women, Indigenous peoples, and youth in project development and implementation. We intentionally source local talent and entrepreneurs to ensure that solutions are culturally relevant and community-driven. For example, Fenix collaborates with rural farming communities to transform agricultural waste into biochar, providing income opportunities while addressing land degradation and wildfire risks. Coral Bioworks engages coastal communities in regenerative aquaculture, creating economic resilience and ecosystem restoration. Within our organization, we are committed to diversity and equity. Reciprocal’s leadership includes women and individuals from LAC, reflecting the region we serve. Our programs also target capacity building for women entrepreneurs, Indigenous innovators, and youth leaders, ensuring they have access to resources and opportunities to succeed. By addressing systemic barriers, Reciprocal not only drives impactful climate solutions but also ensures the benefits are distributed inclusively, creating pathways for historically underrepresented groups to implement their solutions and thrive in the global climate movement.
