How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Reclimate empowers rural, marginalized communities—especially women and youth—by offering sustainable income opportunities through biochar production and carbon credit generation. In many rural areas, women are responsible for waste management and farming. By training them in biochar production, we provide a pathway to economic empowerment while supporting climate resilience. The project also creates a space for youth, particularly in vulnerable areas, to engage in climate-smart agriculture and renewable energy solutions, opening up future job opportunities in the green economy. In our organization, we prioritize diversity and inclusion. We actively hire individuals from underrepresented communities, ensuring that the voices of those we aim to support are represented in decision-making processes. Women and youth are represented in leadership and operational roles, and we foster a collaborative work culture that values diverse perspectives. We also engage local communities in the implementation of our projects, ensuring that their needs and knowledge are integrated into the solution. This inclusive approach strengthens the long-term sustainability of our efforts and ensures that the benefits of the project are shared equitably across all groups. By empowering these communities, we are not only advancing climate action but also contributing to broader social and economic equality.
