Primary Project Category:
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project actively empowers women, youth, and climate-vulnerable communities by providing accessible education and hands-on training in regenerative farming. Through our Regenerative Farming Blueprint course and workshops, we support underrepresented groups in developing skills to create sustainable livelihoods and resilient food systems. Our focus on permaculture, aquaponics, and silvopasture practices equips participants with practical tools to mitigate climate impacts and enhance community food security. We prioritize outreach to rural, indigenous, and marginalized communities, ensuring our programs are affordable and adaptable to their unique contexts. By offering scholarships and sliding-scale fees, we lower financial barriers to participation. Our educational content emphasizes Māori principles of kaitiakitanga (guardianship), reflecting a commitment to cultural diversity and honoring the Treaty of Waitangi. Within our organization, Rieko Pedley, co-director, brings her experience as a woman of Japanese heritage, providing diverse perspectives and fostering inclusive practices. We actively collaborate with women-led farms and engage youth through school-based initiatives, inspiring the next generation of regenerative changemakers. By empowering these groups with knowledge and practical skills, we cultivate leaders who can drive climate solutions in their communities, ensuring that equity, resilience, and diversity remain core to our mission and impact.
