Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Residua Biocircular actively empowers underrepresented groups, particularly women and rural communities, by creating formal employment and fostering inclusion in the climate movement. In Colombia, 54% of our workforce is female, with women comprising 80% of the staff at our pilot plant in Lebrija, Santander. Many of these women are from rural areas and had limited access to formal employment opportunities before joining Residua.

Our community-focused model includes training small-scale farmers, particularly women, to implement insect-based waste bioconversion at a domestic level. This empowers them to transform their agricultural waste into valuable inputs like protein for animal feed and biofertilizers, reducing costs and enhancing sustainability in their operations.

In Mexico, our operations in Mérida, Yucatán, address local challenges where 71.4% of women report experiencing some form of violence. By offering stable, dignified employment and leadership opportunities, we aim to reduce gender-based inequities and foster economic independence.

Residua’s leadership team reflects our commitment to diversity, with a multidisciplinary group spanning finance, biotechnology, and industrial operations. This diversity strengthens our ability to address climate challenges holistically while ensuring that underrepresented groups are central to our mission and impact.
