Project Summary / Description:
We provide potable water to communities that lack access to clean water through sola powered borehole. We are currently providing potable in communities in oyo, Oyo state, Nigeria.
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
The Water Is Life Initiative empowers underrepresented groups by focusing on climate-vulnerable communities, particularly in rural and underserved areas. These communities, often lacking access to clean water and energy, are disproportionately impacted by climate change. By providing solar-powered boreholes, the project enhances resilience to climate stressors, particularly for women and girls, who are traditionally tasked with water collection. This initiative frees up their time for education and economic activities, promoting gender equality and empowerment. The project also engages youth, providing opportunities for skills development in solar technology and sustainability practices. Through training programs, youth gain hands-on experience in technical maintenance and community development, equipping them for future leadership roles in the climate movement. Ripple Heights represents these groups within our organization by ensuring inclusive decision-making at every level. Our leadership includes women, and we actively recruit from climate-vulnerable regions, prioritizing individuals from marginalized communities for training, employment, and leadership positions. Additionally, we emphasize local leadership in project execution, ensuring that the communities directly impacted are involved in all stages of the process, from planning to maintenance.
