Primary Project Category:
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
The School of Recycling empowers underrepresented groups, particularly youth and local communities in Indonesia, by providing hands-on opportunities to engage in climate action. Our educational programs focus on children, who are the future leaders in addressing climate change. By involving them in activities such as sorting bottle caps, shredding flip-flops, and creating products from waste, we equip them with the knowledge and skills to drive environmental change in their communities. We also target underserved, low-income communities, which are often the most affected by environmental issues. By engaging children from these areas, we give them the tools to tackle waste and sustainability problems, ensuring that vulnerable populations are included in climate solutions. Our team reflects this inclusivity, with a diverse group of women and local staff who understand the specific challenges these communities face. This diversity allows us to tailor our approach to local contexts, ensuring cultural relevance and meaningful impact. By fostering an inclusive environment, we empower individuals from all backgrounds to participate in and benefit from climate action, creating long-lasting change in Indonesia and beyond.
