How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
BiomeSync empowers underrepresented groups in the climate movement, including landowners and farmers from climate-vulnerable regions, many of whom are people of color or from historically marginalized communities. By providing an accessible, cost-effective platform for estimating Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) and validating carbon credits, BiomeSync enables these groups to generate additional income through carbon credit sales. This income stream supports financial resilience while incentivizing sustainable land practices. These sustainable practices—such as agroforestry, reduced soil degradation and improved water management—create a positive cycle where healthier practices lead to increased carbon sequestration, further boosting the value of carbon credits. By addressing systemic barriers like the high cost of SOC testing and technical complexity, BiomeSync offers a transformative solution for smallholder farmers and landowners, especially in developing and climate-vulnerable regions. BiomeSync is being developed under the leadership of Ayashi Das Mujumder, a woman scientist and GIS expert dedicated to creating climate solutions that are inclusive and impactful. Her work reflects the organization’s commitment to fostering diversity and equity, both within the team and in the communities we serve. By empowering these groups, BiomeSync contributes to both meaningful climate action and economic and social equity, driving sustainable change worldwide.
