Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

We believe that communities along the Gulf Coast have to deal with a double edged sword on decarbonization. While being extremely climate vulnerable to flooding and hurricanes, and suffering from health issues related to petrochemical emissions, their economies are so intertwined with the industry that they run the risk of becoming more depressed and left behind in the green transition. We believe that a climate-friendly, zero emissions retrofit of these facilities would enable the local communities to retain their livelihoods and become a part of the energy transition story, which has mostly been a story told by coastal hubs of influence. Although our team is young and we currently don't have representation from these communities, we remain committed to working with these communities and giving them more opportunities, which has been detailed extensively in some of our grant applications.

Mission Statement:

SolidSky's mission is to enable legacy petrochemical manufacturers to abate their emissions faster by embodying their carbon into durable, value-add materials such as thermoplastics, and to partner with industrial communities to avoid deindustrialization for blue-collar communities as the world changes its relationship with carbon.
