Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
As the founder of TeamUpcyclers, I am deeply committed to empowering underrepresented groups, particularly women, youth, and IDPs. Having personally experienced the challenges of displacement, I understand the unique struggles faced by these populations, especially women in IDP camps who lack access to basic sanitary products and economic opportunities. Through TeamUpcyclers, I provide hands-on training in waste upcycling and entrepreneurship. We teach women to produce reusable sanitary pads and functional artworks from textile waste, addressing both period poverty and environmental pollution. This empowers women to reduce their reliance on plastic-based pads and improve their menstrual health. Additionally, we equip youth with the skills to start their own businesses, promoting green entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods. Our programs aim to foster a new generation of climate leaders who are equipped to tackle the dual crises of waste pollution and climate change. TeamUpcyclers is led by a diverse team, including myself as a female leader, with a shared commitment to social equity and environmental justice. Our work ensures that the voices of those most affected by climate change are not only heard but are also actively shaping solutions. By putting these communities at the forefront, we are creating a more inclusive climate movement.
