Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
The Farmlink Project was founded by students who believed in empowering youth to lead on climate solutions, and it remains largely youth-led today. Our FIELD Fellowship reflects this commitment, providing fully funded opportunities for students to design and implement projects addressing food waste and food insecurity. To reduce barriers, we intentionally recruit beyond elite institutions and ensure that income and geography are not obstacles to participation. Fellows have contributed fresh perspectives to our work, from ensuring dignified food rescue to addressing soil health, redistributing food to prisons, and exploring systemic climate impacts in the food system. Farmlink also prioritizes serving climate-vulnerable communities, including Indigenous, rural, and underserved populations, who are disproportionately affected by climate change. By empowering underrepresented groups to lead and creating inclusive solutions, we are building a more equitable and sustainable food system. Through youth-driven innovation and community-focused action, Farmlink ensures our work addresses both social and environmental justice.
