How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Communities in Nepal’s Hindu Kush Himalayan region are disproportionately affected by climate change, with 80% of the population at risk, including 35% from traditionally underrepresented communities. Green Intelligence (GI) ensures inclusivity by collecting disaggregated data on age, gender, and ethnicity, revealing that over 30% of our project beneficiaries belong to marginalized groups, such as the Tamang, Thami community. Women constitute a significant portion of participants, aligning with Nepal's 2022 National Agriculture Census, which found that 62% of women are employed in agriculture. GI also engages youth, including young Nepalis returning from the Gulf region to rebuild their lives through sustainable livelihoods. We provide marginalized groups with training in productive tree plantation, agroforestry, and caretaking practices, equipping them with critical skills to adapt to and mitigate climate impacts. By incorporating technological solutions, through GI mobile app, we enable these groups to monitor plantations, access advisory services, and benefit financially through carbon credits and forest produce. These initiatives promotes a sense of ownership and empowerment among marginalized communities, positioning them as active participants in the climate movement. GI’s efforts not only promote environmental restoration but also ensure equitable representation and opportunities for those most affected by climate change.
