How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Tomatiq empowers underserved communities, particularly rural residents and the elderly, who are often overlooked in the climate movement. By providing accessible, affordable public transportation in small towns without existing services, Tomatiq reduces reliance on personal vehicles. This grants mobility to those with limited options—such as the elderly, low-income families, and individuals without cars—offering them independence, better access to healthcare, jobs, and education, and an opportunity to engage in sustainable living. We consider all people living in small towns to be underrepresented - because many of them do not have access to any kind of local public transport. Our project actively involves these communities in the design and implementation process. For instance, in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, we partnered with the Seniors Organization to adapt the Tomatiq app for elderly users and with the Public Library to provide training, ensuring inclusivity. Within Tomatiq, we prioritize collaboration with local leaders and organizations representing these underrepresented groups. While still a small startup, we are committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity in our hiring practices and leadership roles. By addressing the needs of underserved populations, Tomatiq bridges the gap between sustainability and social equity, creating tangible climate solutions that ensure no one is left behind.
