How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
TrashIt’s project empowers underrepresented groups by focusing on smallholder farmers, who are among the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. These farmers, often from rural areas, face challenges such as fluctuating weather patterns, poor soil health, and the high cost of chemical fertilizers. By providing affordable, chemical-free compost, we help them increase their crop yields, restore soil health, and build resilience against climate disruptions, ensuring their livelihoods are more sustainable. We also empower rural women by employing them as waste aggregators. This initiative gives them dignified, income-generating work while reducing waste and supporting sustainable agricultural practices. By involving women in the agricultural waste recovery process, we not only contribute to economic empowerment but also promote gender equality within local communities. Our youth-led team is committed to fostering a sense of responsibility toward the planet. With a shared passion for climate action, we encourage young people to take the lead in environmental sustainability. Our diverse team includes individuals from various backgrounds, all of whom share a vision for a more sustainable and equitable future. By creating opportunities for underrepresented groups, we ensure that our work has a lasting, positive impact on both the environment and society.
