How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project focuses on empowering climate-vulnerable communities, particularly smallholder farmers, women, and youth in rural India, who are often underrepresented in the climate movement. These groups face systemic barriers to participation, yet are vital stakeholders in driving regenerative agriculture and climate resilience. Empowering Women: We prioritize women’s participation by forming self-help groups and providing tailored training in organic farming and Nature-based Solutions (NbS). Women are actively involved in decision-making, seedling distribution, and the establishment of backyard gardens, creating economic opportunities and food security. Engaging Youth: Through school-based initiatives, we engage students in planting and monitoring activities, fostering environmental stewardship from a young age. By integrating education with action, we inspire the next generation to champion sustainable practices. Supporting Farmers: Smallholder farmers, many of whom are from marginalized communities, receive technical support and resources to adopt regenerative agriculture. This reduces their dependence on harmful inputs and enhances their livelihoods, making them active contributors to climate solutions. Representation in Our Organization: Our leadership team includes members from the local community, ensuring cultural relevance and inclusivity in project planning and execution. By embedding equity into our mission, we amplify the voices and agency of underrepresented groups while addressing systemic inequalities in climate action.
