X-taka empowers the underrepresented groups, especially those from informal waste sector with a key focus on women and the youth, by incorporating them into our formalized waste management system at varied levels of our value chain. We provide decent employment and train them through our operations for career building and competency development around waste management and sustainability. In its small ways, X-taka makes sure that they improve their livelihoods and open opportunities for long-term development. The team is also very diverse, hence guaranteeing that we can create much impact not only in our operations but also in contributing toward empowering marginalized communities in this sector.

Mission Statement:

Xtaka redefines waste management in Africa by transforming disposable diaper waste into sustainable products through Hydrothermal Carbonization (HTC) technology, to produce hydrochar as a fertilizer and energy source but also leveraging its potential in high-value applications such as activated charcoal and graphene for pharmaceutical, advanced electronics and chip manufacturing.
