Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
The Young Emerging Farmers Initiative (YEFI) empowers underrepresented groups by focusing on youth, women, and marginalized communities in climate-vulnerable areas. These groups are at the core of YEFI’s interventions, with tailored programs addressing their unique challenges and unlocking their potential as change agents. Youth Empowerment: YEFI trains young people aged 15-35 in climate-smart agriculture, agroforestry, and sustainable food systems, enabling them to secure livelihoods while combating climate change. Over 50,000 youths have benefited, with increased incomes, food security, and resilience to climate shocks. Women’s Inclusion: Recognizing the central role of women in food production and community welfare, YEFI provides targeted training, access to resources, and leadership opportunities to empower women in decision-making roles. Women constitute a significant proportion of program beneficiaries and organizational leadership. Community-Centered Approach: YEFI prioritizes indigenous and climate-vulnerable communities, integrating their traditional knowledge with modern practices to promote sustainable solutions. These groups participate actively in program design and implementation, ensuring inclusivity and cultural relevance. Representation: Underrepresented groups are well-represented within YEFI’s governance and operational structures. Women and youth hold key leadership positions, ensuring diverse perspectives shape the organization’s strategic direction.
