How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Zaji Power Company empowers underrepresented groups by integrating women and youth into the heart of our operations. In a region heavily impacted by deforestation, unemployment, and energy poverty, our project addresses both environmental and socio-economic challenges as it creates opportunities for marginalized groups. Women: Our workforce includes women in critical roles, from briquette production to sales and marketing. By providing skills training, fair wages, and leadership opportunities, we ensure women are economically empowered and contribute to sustainable development in their communities. Youth: We focus on employing and mentoring young people, equipping them with technical and entrepreneurial skills to address climate challenges. Many of our employees are first-time job seekers thus they gaini vital work experience and financial independence. Climate-vulnerable communities: Our operations rely on locally sourced biomass waste, creating additional income streams for small-scale farmers. We create an alternative to traditional charcoal, and improve household health and reduce reliance on unsustainable practices. Internally, our leadership team reflects this commitment. Women hold key positions in finance, operations, and sales, and our inclusive policies ensure diverse voices are represented in decision-making.
