How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project directly addresses gender and climate inequality by focusing on two key mechanisms: Economic Empowerment and Structural Representation. Empowerment We primarily empower women in climate-vulnerable communities by alleviating the burden of energy poverty Time & Health: Replacing traditional stoves eliminates Household Air Pollution (HAP), saving 95,000+ lives annually and frees up to 4 hours daily previously spent collecting firewood. This saved time is redirected toward income-generating activities and education. Economic Roles: We actively recruit women as Community Agents and distributors within the value chain, providing income, business training, and financial access to marginalized groups by partnering with Women in Energy, Oil and Gas. Representation CarbonEx is led by and focused on People of Color (POC) and Youth from emerging markets, groups often underrepresented in global climate finance: Local Leadership: Our entire executive and founding team is Nigerian, ensuring the solution is context-specific and driven by deep local expertise (Ogah Abeni, Sydney Jasmine-Doku, etc.) Gender Balance: Dr. Remoda Thakore (Board Advisor) provides senior female leadership and expertise in sustainability, ensuring the project maintains a gender-inclusive lens at the highest strategic level.
