Green OJ Initiative (GOJI) is a youth-led environmental project based in Jos, Nigeria, focused on combating deforestation and promoting climate awareness. The initiative organizes tree-planting drives, recycling campaigns, and climate education programs across schools and rural communities. GOJI empowers young people and residents to take part in creating greener, cleaner environments while restoring degraded lands and reducing carbon emissions. Through community partnerships and hands-on training, the project builds a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility.

GOJI is deeply committed to empowering underrepresented and climate-vulnerable groups, particularly women, youth, and low-income rural communities in Plateau State, Nigeria. Our approach ensures that these groups are not only beneficiaries but active leaders in driving local climate action.

Women play key leadership roles within GOJI, leading our community outreach and eco-entrepreneurship programs. Through training in tree nursery management, recycling, and sustainable farming, women gain income opportunities and greater participation in environmental decision-making.

Youth are at the heart of GOJI’s mission — over 60% of our volunteers and project coordinators are young people under 30. We engage them through school clubs, skill-building workshops, and mentorship in environmental innovation and green technology.

We also work closely with rural and displaced communities affected by environmental degradation, providing them with tools, knowledge, and seedlings to restore their lands and improve livelihoods.
