How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project is designed by and for the climate-vulnerable rural community of Buea, with a specific focus on empowering women, youth, and people with disabilities. For women, we provide skills in agroforestry that increase their food security and income. For youth, our engagement with schools and the clean lighting from our hubs supports their education and fosters environmental stewardship. Crucially, our project is built for disability inclusion. The solar hubs will be constructed to be physically accessible, providing reliable, safe energy that supports home-based livelihoods for those with mobility challenges. Our training programs will offer adaptive roles in the agricultural value chain, ensuring everyone can participate in and benefit from our community's green growth. Representation is core to our identity. GGC is majority-led by women from the community we serve, ensuring the voices of the underrepresented lead our work.
