Impact on Underrepresented Groups:

Our project directly empowers underrepresented and climate-vulnerable groups—particularly nomadic herder communities, women, and rural youth—who traditionally have limited access to clean energy technologies, technical training, and decision-making spaces in the climate movement. By introducing community-owned distributed solar systems, we reduce energy poverty, improve household resilience, and create new livelihood opportunities for these groups.
Women participate centrally in the project’s planning and management processes, including household energy needs assessments and community consultations. Their involvement ensures that the design and use of solar systems reflect daily realities, such as lighting for home-based production, childcare, and evening study for children. Rural youth are engaged through hands-on technical training, exposure to renewable energy careers, and participation in community energy monitoring efforts, strengthening their long-term capacity to contribute to local climate solutions.
Within our organization, members from these same communities—including women and young professionals—are part of the project team. They contribute to field coordination, community mobilization, and technical training. Their representation strengthens cultural relevance, ensures accountability to local priorities, and provides a pathway for them to grow as environmental leaders.
