How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
TOP FARM directly supports groups that are historically underrepresented in the climate movement—rural farmers, women, and youth—by integrating them into a regenerative circular economy model. Most farmers in our region are low-income rural households with limited access to inputs, training, or markets. By providing affordable compost, eco-charcoal, and regenerative agriculture training, we help these communities adopt climate-smart practices that improve yields, increase income, and build long-term resilience. Women are central to our model: they represent 60% of the farmers and workers in our training programs and play major roles in composting, eco-charcoal production, and agroforestry activities. Youth are also actively involved through field apprenticeships, entrepreneurship coaching, and leadership in waste collection and processing. Internally, our organization reflects the communities we serve. TOP FARM is co-founded and led by young Africans under 30, including a woman co-founder. Our recruitment prioritizes rural youth and women, ensuring representation in operations, training, and outreach. By combining climate action with economic empowerment, TOP FARM gives rural families not only the tools but also the agency to become leaders in local climate solutions.
