How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project is inherently designed for and embedded within rural, climate-vulnerable communities surrounding Lake Victoria, who are severely underrepresented in the global climate movement. These communities bear the dual burden of ecological degradation and energy poverty. We empower them by creating green jobs in harvesting and processing, primarily employing community members. We specifically recruit and train women, who are often most affected by indoor air pollution from charcoal and responsible for household fuel, giving them economic opportunity and a healthier alternative. Our leadership and operational team are composed of individuals from these same regions, ensuring the project is community-led and culturally relevant.
Mission Statement:
To transform ecological challenges into sustainable opportunities by converting invasive water hyacinth into affordable, clean-burning biofuel and natural agricultural inputs, thereby cleansing our waterways, empowering communities, and pioneering a circular economy in Uganda.
