Project Summary / Description:
Our project is currently implemented in the rural communities of Jalawe and Mweyeye in the Rumphi District of Northern Malawi. We have also previously operated in Salima district and plan to expand to other districts like Chitipa, as outlined in our strategic plan.
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Replaces/avoids GHGs (e.g., projects that replace sources of GHGs, such as the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, transport, or other energy uses)', 'Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)', 'Removes/stores GHGs (e.g., projects that capture, sequester, or otherwise enhance the "sinks" that accumulate and store GHGs)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Our project is majority youth-led and specifically targets rural communities, women, and smallholder farmers—groups disproportionately affected by climate change yet underrepresented in solutions. We empower them by placing them at the center of project design and implementation. Women are primary beneficiaries of cleaner cook stoves, reducing their daily burden and health risks. Youth and women are trained as lead farmers and VNRMC members. This inclusive approach ensures our solutions are culturally attuned and create locally-owned impact.
