Primary Project Category:
How Project Affects Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions:
['Reduces GHGs (e.g., projects that reduce sources of GHGs, such as through efficiency or other changes in consumption)']
Impact on Underrepresented Groups:
Ecobarter’s model directly empowers groups that are often underrepresented in the climate movement, including women, young people, and low-income communities. Through our Waste to Resources Empowerment Programme (WREP), we have trained more than 1,000 women to recover and up-cycle hard to recycle waste plastic films into lifestyle products, creating new income opportunities and building local climate leadership. Youth are engaged through our tech-enabled collection system, school outreach, and digital climate education, which gives them practical skills and real participation in circular-economy work. Low-income earners benefit from our waste to currency system for recycling their waste with us, which provides direct financial value while reducing waste and emissions in their communities. Our collection hubs and RVM stations are intentionally placed in climate-vulnerable neighborhoods to increase access to recycling and create safe economic opportunities close to home. Internally, women and youth make up more than 90% of our workforce and leadership. This ensures that the same groups we aim to empower are fully represented in decision-making, community engagement, and project execution.

Mission Statement:
Our mission is transforming how people see wastes. Ecobarter operates smart systems like our automated waste collection infrastructures, web and mobile applications allowing individuals conveniently recycle, earn and reduce GHG-emissions through our recovery and waste-resource workshops where typically hard to recycle plastic films are converted into fabrics for new products.
